Bronze statues of the Rolling Stones founders in their hometown
Notable year: 2023
At One Bell Corner on Dartford High Street, two life-sized bronze figures face the passing crowds — Mick Jagger mid-stride at the microphone, Keith Richards slashing at his guitar. The sculptures, known as The Glimmer Twins, were unveiled on 9 August 2023 and capture the pair in full flight during a 1980s performance.
The statues were created by sculptor Amy Goodman and commissioned by Dartford Borough Council. Funding came from a public art contribution by Bellway London's Copperhouse Green development. Neither Jagger nor Richards attended the unveiling, but Keith's daughter Angela was there and said Amy had completely captured that lovely essence of them on stage.
The statues are right on Dartford High Street at One Bell Corner, free and accessible any time. They are hard to miss — two bronze rock stars frozen mid-performance on a busy shopping street.
Dartford is packed with Rolling Stones history. From here you can walk to Dartford Station where Mick and Keith reunited on the platform in 1961.
