The hotel lounge where 18-year-old Dylan hung out during his summer in Fargo in 1959.
Notable year: 1959
In the summer of 1959, 18-year-old Bob Dylan spent time hanging out in the lounge of the Bison Hotel at 413 Broadway in downtown Fargo. He was living in Fargo that summer, working as a busboy at the Red Apple Cafe on Main Ave and playing keyboards briefly for Bobby Vee's band.
The former Bison Hotel is now the Bison Apartments. A two-and-a-half-storey mural of Dylan by LA-based artist Jules Muck covers the southwest corner of the building — painted in 2022, it shows a young Dylan leaning against the wall with a newspaper and cigarette.
413 Broadway N in downtown Fargo. The mural is visible from the street.
