In July 2015, the St. Paul City Council voted unanimously to co-name a short stretch of 4th Street E as "Positively 4th Street" — after Bob Dylan's 1965 single. The street signs sit between Commercial Street and CHS Field in the Lowertown neighbourhood.
The idea came from St. Paul Saints co-owner Mike Veeck and was sponsored by City Council member Dave Thune. The Saints' ballpark (CHS Field) sits right on 4th Street, so the renamed stretch ties into the Lowertown sports district.
"Positively 4th Street" was released as a single in September 1965. The title most likely refers to 4th Street in Greenwich Village, New York, where Dylan was living at the time. Some have suggested it could refer to 4th Street SE through Dinkytown in Minneapolis, near the University of Minnesota where Dylan briefly studied.
The signs are on 4th Street E in Lowertown, St. Paul. A regular street sign with "Positively" added above "4th Street."
