Wayne's World 'Gas Works' Concert Venue — Bohemian Rhapsody Discovery Scene, Los Angeles

The fictional 'Gas Works' club where Wayne first spots Cassandra Wong performing with her band Crucial Taunt — and where Garth memorably deploys his stun gun — was filmed at 1800 Industrial Street in what is now Los Angeles's Arts District. The venue scenes capture the sweaty, intimate energy of early-90s club rock, and the location doubled convincingly as a gritty Chicago-area dive bar despite being in sunny Southern California.

Wayne's World brought rock club culture to a mass audience, celebrating the world of local bands, headbanging, and backstage passes with genuine affection. The Gas Works scenes are central to the film's plot, introducing Tia Carrere's Cassandra and establishing Wayne's rock-and-roll romanticism. The Bohemian Rhapsody car scene — filmed nearby on streets in the San Fernando Valley — became the film's signature moment and sent Queen's 1975 classic back to number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
