Get DirectionsThe Nenagh Tourist Office in Banba Square houses a permanent display of Shane MacGowan photographs and memorabilia. MacGowan's family roots are in Tipperary — he spent childhood summers in the area, and the landscape and culture of rural Ireland ran through his songwriting with The Pogues.
The tourist office is the starting point for the Unravelling Shane tours, a heritage trail set up by Shane's sister Siobhan through Nenagh and the surrounding area, tracing MacGowan's connection to Tipperary. Visitors can book guided tours, reserve e-bikes to cycle the route, or pick up maps and brochures. The office displays photographs of Shane and two commemorative jerseys from the Shannon Rovers GAA Club.
