While living on Greenmount Avenue, Tupac enrolled at the Baltimore School for the Arts on Cathedral Street, where he studied ballet, jazz, acting, and poetry. He befriended classmate Jada Pinkett (later Pinkett Smith), who remained one of his closest friends until his death. He was working on a production of A Raisin in the Sun when his mother decided to relocate the family to Marin City, California.
3955 Greenmount Avenue is a private residence. A portion of Greenmount Avenue nearby was renamed Tupac Shakur Way in May 2026. The Baltimore School for the Arts, where Tupac studied, is about three miles south at 712 Cathedral Street.
