4000 Greenmount Avenue, Penn Lucy
Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Get DirectionsA portion of Greenmount Avenue in North Baltimore was officially renamed Tupac Shakur Way on 8 May 2026. The street sign stands in the 4000 block, near the neighbourhood of Penn Lucy where Tupac lived as a teenager.
Starting in 1984, Tupac lived with his mother Afeni and sister in a rowhome in the 3900 block of Greenmount Avenue. It was here in Baltimore that he attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, studying acting, poetry, and dance — experiences that shaped the artist he would become.
The street dedication ceremony included rap and spoken-word performances, a special appearance by the Baltimore Oriole, and the unveiling of the Tupac Shakur Way street sign and a peace pole. The renaming recognises Tupac's formative years in Baltimore before he moved to California.
