The Little Theater — Dylan's Winter Frolic Performance, Hibbing

In February 1958, Bob Dylan and The Golden Chords took the stage at the Little Theater for the Winter Frolic Talent Contest. It was one of the earliest documented public performances by the teenage Zimmerman. By several accounts, the volume startled the audience — a pattern that would repeat itself at Newport seven years later.

The building at 400 East 23rd Street now houses the Hibbing Historical Society & Museum, which is worth a visit in its own right for anyone exploring the town's mining and cultural history.
