What happened here?

Stevie Nicks — Stephanie Lynn Nicks — was born on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up across various western cities as her father's executive career moved the family. She met Lindsey Buckingham as a student at San Jose State University in the late 1960s, and the two performed as a duo before joining Fleetwood Mac in 1975 — a decision that transformed both their careers and the band. Nicks brought 'Rhiannon,' 'Landslide,' 'Dreams,' 'Gold Dust Woman,' and 'Sara' to Fleetwood Mac; her mystical, witchy persona and her immediately distinctive voice made her one of the defining female figures of 1970s rock.

The Rumours sessions and the personal chaos that surrounded them — Nicks and Buckingham's disintegrating relationship, John and Christine McVie's divorce, all played out in the studio — produced one of the best-selling albums in history and a document of romantic dissolution that has resonated with listeners for nearly fifty years. Nicks's solo career produced 'Edge of Seventeen,' 'Stand Back,' and 'Talk to Me'; her collaboration with Tom Petty on 'Stop Draggin' My Heart Around' was one of the great unexpected pairings of the era.

Phoenix has no specific Nicks landmark, and her connection to the city is primarily biographical rather than musical — her formative musical years were in the Bay Area. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once with Fleetwood Mac (1998) and again as a solo artist (2019), the first woman to receive the honour twice.
