Get DirectionsThe fictional Stan Mikita's Donuts — where Wayne and Garth philosophise about the nature of product placement while surrounded by it — was filmed at a real donut shop at 1220 North La Brea Avenue in Inglewood, south of Hollywood. Named after the Chicago Blackhawks legend in a nod to Wayne's World's Aurora, Illinois setting, the donut shop scenes became some of the film's most quotable, featuring Wayne's iconic 'Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress?' monologue and the 'Sphincter Boy' exchange.
The donut shop serves as the film's philosophical headquarters, where Wayne and Garth hold court with their friends and riff on everything from babe ratings to Kierkegaard. These scenes perfectly captured the aimless, joyful hanging-out that defined early-90s slacker culture. Director Penelope Spheeris, who had previously documented LA's punk scene in The Decline of Western Civilization, brought an authentic feel to the rock-and-roll hangout atmosphere.
The La Brea Avenue location became a Puerto Nuevo Mexican restaurant after the donut shop closed. The building still stands in Inglewood, and while there is no marker or signage indicating its connection to the film, it remains recognisable to dedicated Wayne's World fans who seek it out.
