Get DirectionsPatsy Cline was born Virginia Patterson Hensley in Winchester in 1932. By the time of her death in a plane crash near Camden, Tennessee in 1963, she had become one of the most influential vocalists in the history of country music. Hits like Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walkin' After Midnight crossed over from country to pop and remain instantly recognisable today. She was just 30 years old.
Cline was brought home to Winchester and buried at Shenandoah Memorial Park on Front Royal Pike. Her grave is marked by a bronze bell tower memorial erected by her fans. The inscription reads "Death cannot kill what never dies: love." Flowers, letters and small tributes are regularly left at the site by visitors from around the world.
