What happened here?

Primavera Sound, held at the Parc del Fòrum on Barcelona's waterfront, has become one of the world's most critically acclaimed music festivals since its founding in 2001. Known for its impeccable curation that bridges indie rock, electronic music, hip-hop, and experimental sounds, the festival has hosted landmark performances by Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Björk, Nine Inch Nails, and countless others. Its reputation for discovering and championing artists before they break through has made it a tastemaker event for the global music industry.

The festival takes place each late May or early June at the purpose-built Parc del Fòrum, a striking modernist public space on the Mediterranean coast in the Sant Martí district. The seaside setting — with stages positioned against a backdrop of the sea and the city skyline — gives Primavera a unique visual identity. The festival has expanded to include editions in other cities, but Barcelona remains its spiritual home.

Parc del Fòrum is freely accessible year-round as a public park, featuring distinctive architecture from the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. During the festival, it accommodates around 200,000 attendees across the week. Barcelona's excellent public transport, late-night culture, and Mediterranean climate make it one of the most enjoyable festival experiences in Europe.
