Get DirectionsEstablished in 2007 by Otis Redding's wife Zelma, the Otis Redding Foundation exists to empower young people through music, writing and arts education. Based in downtown Macon, the Foundation runs programmes that give children access to instruments, mentoring and performance opportunities — continuing the legacy of an artist who changed the world through song.
Inside the Centre for the Arts, visitors can explore a collection of Redding's personal artefacts, awards and photographs. It offers an intimate look at the man behind the music — from his early days in Macon to his rise as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.
The Foundation is located on Cotton Avenue in downtown Macon. Check their website for opening hours before visiting. The Otis Redding statue stands just outside, making it easy to combine both into a single stop on your Macon music pilgrimage.
