In July 1977, AC/DC took over this Woollahra church in Sydney to film the "Let There Be Rock" video. Bon Scott, dressed in a priest's costume, delivered the performance from a tall wooden podium. Around the four-minute mark, he decided to launch himself off the podium for the big finale.
Malcolm and Angus later recalled how Bon completely misjudged the landing, crashing into the front pews and breaking his ankle. If you watch the video, you can actually see him hit the deck with a heavy thud. Bon was taken to hospital while the rest of the band headed to Albert Studios to continue recording.
The location of the video shoot is often incorrectly listed as The Kirk in Surry Hills, however the AC/DC camp corrected the mistake in 2023 — the church is in Woollahra.
