Where Elvis Stayed on His Only Canadian Tour

Get DirectionsOn August 31, 1957, Elvis Presley played Empire Stadium in Vancouver — his only ever concert on Canadian soil. He stayed at the Hotel Georgia, a grand downtown hotel on West Georgia Street that had been hosting dignitaries and celebrities since the 1920s. The show drew around 25,000 fans and was shut down after just three songs when the crowd rushed the stage. Police stopped the concert and Elvis was escorted back to the hotel, where fans gathered outside hoping for a glimpse.
The hotel has since leaned into the connection. The room where Elvis stayed has been designated the Elvis Suite and is available for guests to book. The suite features period-inspired decor and memorabilia acknowledging the King's one-night stay. It remains one of the more unusual Elvis landmarks — a single night in a city he never returned to, yet one that left a lasting mark on Vancouver's musical history.
The Hotel Georgia reopened in 2011 as the Rosewood Hotel Georgia after a major restoration. It is one of Vancouver's most elegant heritage hotels, located in the heart of downtown. The Elvis connection is part of the hotel's storied history alongside visits from royalty, Hollywood stars, and politicians over nearly a century of operation.
